Ascent Soccer Academy has been drawn in Group B of the CAF Women’s Champions League COSAFA qualifier against Botswana’s Gaborone United Ladies, Uniao Desportiva de Lichinga from Mozambique, and Eswatini’s Young Buffaloes.
Ascent, who are the the Champions of the 2023 Goshen City National Womens Cup, will make their debut in this competition.
Group A features South Africa’s University of Cape Town FC, Green Buffaloes from Zambia, Herentals Queens from Zimbabwe, and FC Ongos Ladies from Namibia.
Only the top team from the qualifier will advance to the continental finals. However, COSAFA will have two clubs in the eight-team event, as the reigning champions, Mamelodi Sundowns, have automatically qualified.
Malawi will host the regional tournament from August 15-24 at Mpira Stadium in Blantyre.
