Adequate data crucial in managing groundwater – UNIMA

University of Malawi (UNIMA) has emphasised the importance of collecting sufficient data on groundwater levels across the country to improve management and resilience.

Professor of Hydrology at the University Cosmo Ngongonda made the remaks in Lilongwe during a National Stakeholder Dialogue on Ground Water.

According to Ngongonda, groundwater does not receive the much-needed attention.

Director of Water Resources in the Ministry of Water and Sanitation, James Chitete, said groundwater is a crucial resource in sustaining millions of livelihoods hence the government is working with partners to ensure that such a resource is being managed effectively.
