Access Road to Mzedi dumping site at 40 percent – BCC

In an effort to enhance sanitation in Blantyre, the Blantyre City Council (BCC) is constructing a K2 billion access road from the Kachere-Zomba main road to Mzedi dumping site.

The council’s Director of Health and Social Services, Semden Seunda said the new road will make it easier for vehicles to reach the dumping site, reducing the amount of waste that is often left near the main road.

He noted that during the rainy season, it is difficult to access the site due to large heaps of waste, hindering vehicle movement.

Seunda said the road which was started in June this year, is expected to be finished in November this year.

The access road is being constructed under the council’s water and sanitation project.
