From next month, beneficiaries of the Social Cash Transfer Programme in Mzimba will start receiving their money through KakuPay, a mobile money wallet.
Principal Economist in the Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs, Jonathan Mwale disclosed this in Mzimba during a stakeholders’ meeting on the introduction of the new payment system.
“This system will ensure the beneficiaries in hard-to-reach areas receive their money on time,” said Mwale.
Wealth Net official Dingiswayo Zulu, whose company has been engaged to be providing the mobile money transactions through the KakuPay smart money mobile platform said they are prepared to roll out the program.
According to Mzimba District social welfare officer responsible for Social Cash Transfer, Shadreck Mingo, over 19,000 people are enrolled in the programme.
