Dept of Immigration resumes passport printing

Excitement is in the air among the public following the announcement by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship Services that it will re-start the printing passports.

According to the department, the process has started with Lilongwe today and will gradually be expanded in  the other regions.

Last month, the department suspended the processing and issuance of passports due to a cybersecurity breach.

Meanwhile, the department has reduced the e-passport fee for Malawian citizens by 55%. The cost for ordinary passports has been adjusted from K90,000 to K50,000, with a processing time of 10 days.
