WITNESSES TESTIFY IN MULTICHOICE, MACRA CASE

The Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority ( MACRA) and Multichoice Malawi have made their oral submission of arguments in a judicial review case.

Multichoice Malawi is challenging MACRA’s decision that the company has to seek approval from the regulator before making any tariff adjustments as stipulated in Section 74 of the Communications Act.

However, MACRA insists that Multichoice Malawi, as an agent of Multichoice Africa and licensed by MACRA should ensure that DStv tariffs comply with Section 74 of the Act.

It is expected that after the oral submissions, the High Court will set a later date for the verdict on the matter.

Earlier, both parties cross-examined three witnesses, one from Multichoice Malawi and two from MACRA.
