SULOM response delayed — Analysts

Sports analyst Dan Chemis has criticised the Super League of Malawi for coming up with a delayed response over some acts of misconduct in the country’s elite football tournament.

SULOM, through their website, announced on Saturday morning that they will take disciplinary action against Ekhaya FC’s goalie, Eliasi Missi for ‘strangling’ FCB Nyasa Big Bullets player Babatunde Adepoju about two weeks ago.

Ekhaya have also been charged with bringing the TNM Super League into disrepute, damaging the image of sponsors TNM, the Super League of Malawi and the game.

Meanwhile, Silver Strikers have been charged with three counts as they had reportedly failed to control the actions of their supporters, pitch invasion and bringing the league into disrepute.

“What SULOM has done is commendable, but we need immediacy and judgement should come withing a week. These are clear cut issues. This trend has been going on for so long now, I don’t think it will end,” Chemis said.

League action returns today as Mighty Wanderers takes on Mzuzu City Hammers at Kamuzu Stadium, Karonga United lock horns against Blue Eagles at Karonga Stadium while Civil Service United faces Songwe Border United at Civo Stadium.
