Dedza Central East MP Joshua Malango has withdrawn his motion to have the Chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee on Agriculture Sameer Suleman impeached.
Announcing this in Parliament, Leader of the House, Richard Chimwendo Banda, said the decision was made at a Business Committee caucus.
The whole day on Thursday, Malango agitated for Suleman’s removal from his seat as Chairperson of the Agriculture Committee following a string of incidents of misconduct.
Speaker of Parliament Catherine Gotani Hara has meanwhile slapped Zomba Central MP Bester Awali with a 10 day suspension during Commitee meetings for violent conduct after he had thrown a water bottle at the government side.
Gotani Hara said she has given a lenient punishment after DPP leadership apologised and regretted the incident.
She also said another mitigation factor is that this was the first time for Awali to misbehave in such a manner.
