Standard Bank empowers girls through financial literacy

Standard Bank marked International Day of the Girl Child by hosting financial literacy sessions for young girls at its branches across the country, focusing on banking careers and financial empowerment.

Speaking during the interactions in Lilongwe, Standard Bank Head of Brand and Marketing, Tamanda Ng’ombe emphasised the need to empower girls and help them overcome challenges that affect them in society.

Ng’ombe said the initiative, which is named ‘Girls are our Hope for the Future’ seeks to inspire young girls to envision and pursue their dreams while fostering skills that will lead them into a successful future.

One of the girls who attended the sessions, Nthambi Perekamoyo, a Form Three student at Likuni Girls Secondary School said the interaction and experience were an eye-opener to the young girls for their excellence in education and financial matters.
