Recent statistics from Blantyre City Council indicate that a total of 784 households in Blantyre have benefitted from Social Cash Transfer Programme.

One of the beneficiaries of the programme, Dorothy Mumba says the support has enabled her to pay school fees for her children, put food on the table for her family and start a small-scale business.

Similarly, Lonny Manyamba, an elderly woman also residing in Mpemba, beams with joy as she recounts the impact of the programme on her life.

With the assistance received, she was able to fulfil her dream of building a new house and even expand her livelihood by investing in goats.

Blantyre’s Social Welfare Officer, Kumbukeni Kawuwa, has since expressed joy that the project is yielding the desired results.
