Salima Sugar urges NAM to revamp the Queens

Sponsor of the national netball league, Salima Sugar Company, has challenged the Netball Association of Malawi (NAM) to restore the glory of the Malawi National Netball Team following a 100 percent increase in league sponsorship.

Salina Sugar has raised the sponsorship from K40 million to K80 million.

Board Executive Chairperson for Salima Sugar Company, Wester Kosamu, made the appeal during the official unveiling ceremony of the doubled sponsorship in Lilongwe. He stated that the national netball league aims to provide quality players for the national team and they expect positive results. Kosamu emphasized that the increased funds should be used effectively to ensure the success of the netball growth project.

NAM President, Vitumbiko Gubuduza, praised Salima Sugar for the landmark sponsorship increase and promised to use the funds prudently with a significant portion allocated to the prize money. Gubuduza also announced that this year’s league will commence in less than two weeks.

Salima Sugar officially partnered with the NAM last year with a K40 million package, which saw Blue Eagles Sisters emerge as the inaugural champions.
