Football Association of Malawi president, Fleetwood Haiya, has warned districts and regional football administrators against playing double standards to frustrate the ‘transforming the game’ agenda which his administration is implementing.
Haiya said this during the launch of the 2024 Castel Challenge Cup at Mponela in Dowa District.
“Some of you were told that there is no Castel Challenge and other district leagues this year and you chose to side with these frustrated football politicians, if you don’t want to serve this administration just stay out or we will disengage you” Haiya warned.
The FA boss hailed Castel Limited and other companies for their commitment in helping to transform the game through lucrative deals.
Castel Malawi Head of Corporate Marketing and Communications, Lavern Chitakata, has pledged continued partnership with FAM for more talent identification through the Castel Cup.
During the official launch match, Blue Eagle Football Club edged out St Gabriel Zitha by two goals to nil to progress to the second round of the regional phase.
