PRISAM President dangles K5 million reward for top JCE performers

As the Junior Certificate of Education Examination commences, girls across Malawi have an extra incentive to excel courtesy of Ernest Kaonga, President of the Private Schools Association of Malawi (PRISAM) who has pledged a reward of K1 million each to the top five performers in the examination.

In a message addressed to all students, Kaonga emphasised the importance of hard work and academic excellence.

“We need to motivate these students because our aim is to see them scoring highly during exams.

“As PRISAM President, I have set aside K5 million to reward the five highest-performing girls during this examination,” said Kaonga.

The reward is not limited to students from private schools alone. Kaonga clarified that it applies to both private and public schools, emphasising that excellence knows no boundaries.

“It doesn’t matter whether you attend a public or private school,” Kaonga asserted.

“What I am looking for are the top five girls, and they will receive a substantial reward for their dedication and hard work,” said Kaonga.

Kaonga’s commitment to quality education extends beyond this initiative. His passion for promoting girl-child education aligns with government efforts to create equal opportunities for all.

This isn’t the first time Kaonga has invested in students’ success. Previously, he has rewarded top performers in the Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) and Primary School Leaving Certificate of Education (PSLCE) examinations, even offering scholarships to students from marginalised communities.
