PR bill in the pipeline

Efforts to come up with a draft Public Relations Bill are gathering momentum, with the Public Relations Society of Malawi (PRSM) pointing out that it would help sanitize the profession and enhance professional development.

PRSM President Benson Linje has said this ahead of the PR Lakeshore Conference, scheduled for October 3-6 at in Mangochi.

According to Linje, the bill,if adopted and enacted, would also promote ethical standards in the PR profession.

“We are putting together the paperwork and making necessary consultations with relevant partners,” he said, noting that with the 2025 national elections approaching, it would shape narratives that align with the nation’s democratic and developmental goals.

This year’s PR conference, themed “Managing Narratives for Enhanced Democracy and Development” will be officially opened by the Minister of Information and Digitalisation, Moses Kunkuyu.
