Police in Machinjiri early today on 3 February 2024 received a report that three motorcycle riders were carrying suspected items which were covered in a sack.
Following the report officers from Machinjiri South Lunzu Police followed the suspected criminals.
Upon stopping them for questioning they were not cooperative and they started a fight to escape the scene.
According to Sergeant Maxwell Paul Jailos, publicist for Ndirande Police Station, in the fracas that ensued, police managed to confiscate one motorcycle with one sack of cables which are suspected to be ESCOM cables.
Police investigations are still underway to apprehend the suspected criminals.
