Community Development Officer for Nsanje Patrick Sipuni says the newly elected leadership of the Area Social Protection Committee will help address challenges social protection programmes face in the district.
Sipuni made the remarks on Tuesday during the election of leaders of the committees in the area of Traditional Authority Ndamera and Nyachikadza.
He said the committee is mandated to track down challenges in social programmes and work out on them.
An Economist in the Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs in the division of poverty reduction and Social Protection, Elisha Limbe, said the committee will also act as a linkage between communities and those in authority hence promoting coordination.
The committee has people from social welfare, forestry, health, education, police, agriculture and Non-Governmental organisations.
