NICE urges journalists to sensitise new electoral laws

National Initiative for Civic Education (NICE) has challenged journalists to ensure that citizens are aware of the newly amended electoral laws as part of preparations for the forthcoming general elections.

NICE Programme Officer for Dedza and Lilongwe, Daniel Malango, made these remarks in Dedza during a media orientation on how to effectively sensitise the community about the newly amended election laws.

Malango said that the media plays a vital role in disseminating information and also encouraged journalists to work with them.

One of the journalists who participated, Steve Chirombo, commended the organisation for equipping the media with knowledge of the newly amended election laws, which will enable them to perform their duties professionally.

NICE Public Trust has been accredited by the Malawi Electoral Commission to conduct civic education in preparation for next year’s general elections.
