MPICO bolsters Central Region Netball League with K40 million

Central Region Netball League has received a major boost ahead of their 2024 Netball League with a K40 million package from their sponsors, MPICO Holdings Limited.

Last season, the league had K24 million as sponsorship.

Unveiling the hiked deal in Lilongwe, Operations Manager at MPICO, Elliot Jambo, said they remain committed to complementing the government’s efforts in sports development since the move seeks to reposition netball for a rejuvenated and consistent national team.

Fernando Ligola, Central Region Netball Committee’s Vice Chairperson, expressed gratification over the news, saying the 2024 tournament will be competitive and more exciting.

Netball Association of Malawi interim Treasurer, Ceceilia Ntulekule, described MPICO as a true partner and game changer for the sport.

She said the company’s commitment has seen massive talent identification from the grassroots, which is crucial in forming a formidable national team.

The league is expected to commence on 22 June at the Gate Way Mall Complex Netball Court in Lilongwe.

MPICO started sponsoring the league in 2016.
