Chitipa District Council says it is geared for the second edition of K20 million 2024 Misuku Motorhino Eco Rally competition to be held on Saturday in Misuku Hills in Chitipa District.
The theme of this year is: “Conserving natural forests in order to create worth through tourism in hard to reach areas.”
District Commissioner for Chitipa, MacMillan Magomero, said the Misuku Motorhino Eco Rally 2024 has gained international recognition and it has even acquired sponsorship from Motorhino Motorcycles which is specialised in electric vehicles like motorbikes and motorboats.
“This is an important competition as it is in our district reform areas and we need all DEC members and all people to participate as it is the district council’s baby,” he said.
Country Director for Motorhino Electric Motorcycles, Barros Atupele Mweso said they expect fireworks during the competition.
The K20 million Misuku Motorhino Eco Rally 2024 will be a combined electric and fuel powered motorbike race.
The guest of honour to the event will be Minister of Local Government, Culture and National Unity, Richard Chimwendo Banda, Minister of Tourism Verah Kamtukule and Minister of Youths and Sports Uchizi Mkandawire.
The race, which is part of the district council’s reform agenda, is meant to contribute to the realisation of Malawi 2063.
