Two men nabbed over suspected intent to cause grievous harm

Police in Jenda, Mzimba, have arrested two men for acts intended to cause grievous harm to Gibson Munga, 21, a suspect in a malicious damage case in Handile Village at Embangweni in the district.

Munga is suspected of having damaged windows and other property belonging to Philimon Ndhlovu, one of the arrested men. Munga fled to Handile Village to hide after learning that the police were looking for him regarding the malicious damage offence.

Police Spokesperson, Macfarlen Mseteka, identified the suspects as Philimon Ndhlovu, 52, and Vincent Jere, 68. They are believed to have gone to the village to hunt for Munga. Upon capturing him, they allegedly tied him with a rope to a motorcycle and dragged him for over 2 kilometres.

Some villagers recorded video clips of the incident, which went viral on social media, prompting the Embangweni Police Unit to arrest the two men for acts intended to cause grievous harm.

Philimon Ndhlovu and Vincent Jere come from Traditional Authority Mzukuzuku in Mzimba District.
