Kamuzu University of Health Sciences ( KUHeS) has awarded certificates to Malawi Defence Force (MDF) officers who have completed a month-long training in emergency, critical and operative care.
According to Brigadier General Kingsley Magomero, the Commandant of Military Health Services, the trained soldiers will be deployed to the DR Congo.
This follows the UN’s recognition of the commendable work of MDF health workers in DR Congo, who provide care to all casualties on the battlefield.
Principal Secretary for Administration in the Ministry of Health, James Manyetera, noted the training aligns well with the Malawi 2063, as outlined in the Ministry of Health’s strategic plan in ensuring that the citizens have access to quality health services.
MDF has produced three cohorts since the onset of the trainings which started in 2021, 2022 and 2024, respectively.
