MCP hails women support in strengthening the party

Parliamentarian for Lilongwe Mapuyu North, Horace Chipuwa, has urged Takumana Tikondane Club, a women’s grouping of the Malawi Congress Party (MCP), to continue consolidating party structures.

Chipuwa was speaking at Muyala Ground in the area of Senior Chief Kalolo in Lilongwe during an annual event the women organised to share ideas on how they will work together in 2025.

He said women are key in various development projects taking place in the country and urged the women to continue working together to ensure the strength of the party.

Deputy founder of the grouping, who spoke on behalf of the founder Mai Hilda Manjamkhosi, Nayele Jekete, said the group has helped bring MCP-affiliated women together and help in strengthening the party structures.

She said the group promotes good leadership skills among women and also encourages women to always respect their families.

Representing Senior Chief Kalolo, Senior Group Village Headman Chibungu, urged the women to continue working together in supporting government efforts in developing the country.

Chibungu stressed the need for chiefs in the country to always support government in it’s drive to develop the country.

Takumana Tikondane club formerly Chitukuko Cha Amai M’malawi was established in 1992 as one way of uniting and mobilising party women.
