Mchinji District hails churches for elevating ECD

Mchinji District Council has commended the Norwegian Church Aid and Danish Church Aid (DCA) for their dedication to Early Childhood Development (ECD) through the “Transform” Project.

The Council’s Director of Economic Planning and Development, Martin Pindankono, lauded the project’s efforts in addressing key challenges in ECD.

He said this on Friday during the graduation of 82 caregivers from various districts, who had been trained in early childhood development by the Mchinji District Council.

Pindankono acknowledged that many caregivers who are on voluntary work face financial difficulties that threaten the sustainability of ECD. Nonetheless, he praised the project for tackling this challenge with monthly stipends to the care givers.

NCA’s Nutrition Specialist, Tiyezge Kalima, working under the Transform project, emphasised the project’s commitment to Malawi 2063, ensuring caregivers receive training and financial support to sustain their efforts.
