Senior Resident Magistrate’s Court in Balaka has sentenced Jonas Buleya, 43, to 18 years imprisonment with hard labour after he pleaded guilty to a charge of having sexual intercourse with a child.
Buleya committed the offence on May 14, 2024 at Nkaluluka Village in Balaka District where he had carnal knowledge of a 14-year-old girl issued her with death threats if she dared to reveal the ordeal.
In Court, Buleya initially pleaded not guilty but five witnesses were paraded who proved the case beyond reasonable doubt.
He comes from Nkaluluka Village in Traditional Authority Nsamala in Balaka District.
