In a bid to bolster tourism, Malawi and Ghana have implemented a Visa waiver agreement for holders of ordinary, diplomatic, and service passports.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration of Ghana, the agreement took effect on February 7, 2024.
The statement further disclosed that travellers may transit through, depart from, and stay in the territory of both countries for a cumulative period of up to 90 days without recourse to work within a calendar year.
The move has since excited Ghanaians including well-known social media influencer, Wodemaya.
In his State of the Nation Address (SONA), President Dr Lazarus Chakwera told Malawians that his focus would be on Agriculture, Tourism, and Mining, which he termed as the ATM Strategy and the 2024/2025 budget would prioritise the sectors.
Recently, Malawi lifted visa restrictions for travellers from at least 79 countries.
The decision aims to encourage visitors to come to Malawi, including those from the UK, China, Russia, Germany, Australia, Canada, and Ghana with a broad objective of improving tourism in the country.
