Livingstonia Synod to plant more than 5 million trees

CCAP Synod of Livingstonia is expected to plant over 5 million trees during this year’s Forestry Season, according to the church’s Moderator, Reverend Jailosi Kamisa.

Kamisa made these remarks at Lusangazi in Mzimba during the launch of its National Tree Planting Project.

He said the church cherishes the partnership that exists between them and the government in promoting and safeguarding the country’s forests.

General Secretary for the church, Reverend William Tembo, called for more awareness on the need to take care of our natural forests.

“Our natural forests are being depleted at will. We therefore call upon stakeholders to join hands and save the trees being depleted as nobody’s business,” he said.

Mzimba District Forestry Officer, Masozi Chirwa, reiterated the government’s continued commitment to protecting forests in the country.

Inkosi Kampingo Sibande of Mzimba called upon communities to participate in planting and managing forests in their areas.
