Ministry of Water and Sanitation says it is prepared to contain, control and prevent cholera outbreak as the country is approaching the rainy season.
Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Water and Sanitation, Elias Chimlambe made the remarks in Lilongwe when the ministry received a donation of chlorine tablets worth over K700 million from Good Neighbours Malawi, a humanitarian non-profit.
Chimlambe said the ministry has distributed wash supplies such as chlorine and soap in all 15 hotspot districts across the country.
He commended the organisation for the donation, stressing it has come at the right time as the country is approaching the rainy season — where cholera outbreaks and other diarrhoeal diseases occur regularly.
Country Director for Good Neighbours, Gyo Jin Joo, said they want to ensure that people, especially rural residents, have access to clean, safe and quality water.
