Inclusivity key to national development — OXFAM

Oxfam has encouraged the marginalised (people with disabilities, women and the youth) in the country to take part in politics and effectively participate in the 2025 general elections.

Country Director for Oxfam in Malawi, Lingalireni Mihowa, has said this in Lilongwe during an engagement with political parties on party conventions and strategies for promotion of women, youth and people with disabilities in political processes and leadership.

Speaking after officially opening the meeting, Minister of Gender, Jean Sendeza, called for collective duty among political parties to advance gender transformation that can make a difference to the development of the country.

The meeting follows a 40 month project which is expected to end in 2027.

The project is being implemented by Oxfarm in collaboration with Women Legal and Resource Centre, funded by the European Union.
