Govt upbeat on public health curriculum

Ministry of Health is optimistic that the introduction of the Public Health Curriculum in Christian Health Association of Malawi (CHAM) colleges will address some of the challenges affecting the health sector.

Deputy Director of Preventive Health Services in the Ministry of Health, Aaron Ganizani, made the remarks in Mponela, Dowa during the launch of CHAM Diploma in Public Health Curriculum.

Ganizani emphasised the need for health workers to have adequate skills and knowledge to protect people’s lives and promote good health.

He added that the health sector has been facing challenges as some of the colleges have been teaching public health courses that are not aligned with government policies.

CHAM Executive Director, Happy Makala said the launch of public health curriculum in CHAM colleges is a milestone towards achieving the Universal Health Coverage.

Makala further highlighted that the curriculum has been designed to contribute to the development of the country’s health workforce.
