First Lady Monica Chakwera is at the Ford Foundation Centre for Social Justice in New York, United States of America, with other First Ladies from around the world, attending a prestigious three-day Certified Executive Leadership Training in Health and Development.
The training seeks to enhance leadership skills in public health and development and it got underway on July 10 and concludes on July 12, 2024.
The Global First Ladies Academy (GFLA) and Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health have organised it, in partnership with the Organisation of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD), the Alliance of Spouses of Heads of State and Representatives of Latin America (ALMA), the Spouses of CARICOM Leaders Action Network (SCLAN), the Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen, GE HealthCare, Merck, and PepsiCo.
US First Lady, Jill Biden, emphasised the importance of global partnerships, in a roundtable discussion.
Some of the discussions at the training are based on current trends, critical research, and sustainable evidence-based approaches to health and development challenges.
