First couple mourns Lucius Banda

President Dr Lazarus Chakwera has paid tribute to legendary artist ‘soldier’ Lucius Banda, who before his demise on Sunday served as the Presidential Advisor on Youth and Arts.

In a brief statement, Dr Chakwera and First Lady Madam Monica Chakwera point out that, using his political activism through music, late Banda contributed immensely to the country’s struggle for democracy and helped entrench good governance principles.

The first couple goes on to say that “soldier” will forever be remembered for giving a voice to the voiceless and enriching Malawi’s culture.

Banda made his debut as a musician when he joined Alleluya Band before he went solo and eventually set-up his own outfit called Zembani Band.
