Her Majesty Nkomo Mmbelwa V of the Mzimba Ngoni has described cultural exchange visits as vital in sharing ideas on developing chiefdoms in the district of Mzimba.
The exchange visits happen every three months, during which the wives of chiefs in the district meet to promote and generate business ideas and teach children the Ngoni language, among other things.
Nkomo Mmbelwa V said this at Edingeni Royal Palace in Mzimba on Saturday when 70 women, led by Inkosikazi Mabilabo, visited the Royal Palace. She added that the exchange visits would enable non-governmental organisations to reach out and provide support more effectively in their respective areas.
She also urged groups in the Kingdom to start producing Ngoni attire, engage in large-scale farming, and teach children the Ngoni language, which is being lost.
Exchange visits started in 2019 but due to COVID-19 which had hit the world including Malawi, made a back slide to the initiative.
