Farmers in Neno District are speaking highly of a catchment conservation management campaign being implemented through the Malawi Watershed Services programme (MWASIP).
This came out at Chidokole Primary School Ground during this year’s launch of the campaign in the district.
Through the programme, farmers are learning new ways to promote modern agriculture while protecting the environment.
Francis Chisenga, 42, who is a maize farmer, said through the advice and training, he is now harvesting 46 bags of maize per acre compared to 20 bags he used to previously harvest on the same piece land.
He further said that the challenge of soil erosion is now decreasing because of the conservation campaign.
