Several programmes from the Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) will now be aired on various community radio stations across the country.
This development stems from a memorandum of understanding between MBC and 15 community radio stations nationwide.
George Kasakula, MBC’s Director General said this will benefit rural masses, often underserved due to technical constraints.

“This is a critical moment for MBC and all community radio stations because through the arrangement we are not competing but complementing each other at the end of the day, the listener wins,” said Kasakula.
He emphasised the importance of broadcasting critical national programmes such as the State of the Nation Address which will ensure broader accessibility.

Ronald Tembo, Head of the Universal Services Fund at the Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA) lauded the collaboration.
“As MACRA, we fully support this initiative as it will help further close the information gap,” Tembo said.
