Communities vandalise investor’s K450M property

Owner of Thanzi Chicks Limited has cried foul over the loss of K450 million within two weeks following vandalism and theft by community members at his two Farms in Nsaru and Msundwe in Lilongwe.

The company’s Managing Director, Raj Munanngi, said the vice is worrisome and a threat to his business.

According to Munanngi, the villagers’ acts of vandalism follows his failure of honouring demands like giving monthly allowances to chiefs, purchasing coffins at funerals and free giving free chicken manure to the communities.

Senior Village Head Chinyama admitted that there was vandalism, which he condemned and reported the matter to the police.

Lilongwe Police spokesperson, Hastings Chigalu, said they arrested the suspects and were released on bail.

Chigalu said the police will soon invite all parties involved to find lasting solutions on the matter because investors have a right to do business in a conducive environment.
