The Central Malawi Conference of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church (CMC) is planning its first-ever special camp meeting, to be held at the conference’s new mission site in Guma, Dowa.
The camp, slated for April 2025, will bring together over 5,000 campers from the CMC, who will be camping on top of the hill for four days.
Unveiling the plan to over 100 pastors and church elders gathered at Falls SDA Church in Lilongwe, CMC President, Pastor John Phiri, said, “The camp’s main objective is revival and evangelism for spiritual growth as we await the second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
It has specifically been scheduled during a period when many people are on holiday to give everyone an opportunity to attend and experience an offsite camp and revival, away from our comfort zones.”
“We could plan to hold this camp any time, but we noted that in April, a lot of people are available due to the long public holiday period, providing an opportunity for those who may not easily be allowed holidays from their workplaces to attend.”
During the meeting, the organising committee of over 35 members, drawn from different churches around CMC, was unveiled.
The committee is led by Lameck Manda, with Khalani Makunje as secretary, Tithokoze Samuel as treasurer, and Patrick Mleya as spokesperson.
In his presentation, Chairperson Lameck Manda emphasised that the camp meeting will feature international speakers from Tanzania as well as local pastors from within the Malawi Union Conference.
He added that activities will range from entrepreneurship and health lessons to sports and children’s activities.
CMC has over 400 organised churches, with a registered membership of over 138,000.
