Chitipa United slays ‘Ingwina’ Karonga United

Chitipa United Football Club has convincingly beaten Karonga United, popularly called ‘Ingwina Sha Karonga’ by four goals to one in a TNM Super League match played at Karonga Stadium.

Ramadan Mtafu scored a hat-trick at 8, 23 and 52 minutes while Sitimela Muyila scored the fourth after 54 minutes and Karonga United pulled back a consolation goal in the 72 minute through Blessings Mwalilino.

Speaking in a post match interview, Assistant Coach for Chitipa United, Elvis Kafoteka, congratulated his boys for ‘the gallant fight’ that they put up.

However, despite the win Kafoteka was quick to say that they will polish up some mistakes that they noted during the match.

Coach for Karonga United, Travor Kajawa, said the result is so embarrassing to the team as his boys created more chances than Chitipa United which were wasted.

The win means Chitipa United is on position six with three points while Karonga United is on position 8 with similar points.

Silver Strikers are currently league leaders with six points.
