President Dr Lazarus Chakwera has commended World Vision Malawi for implementing projects that are reducing poverty in the country by reaching out to the ultra poor, especially children in villages.
Dr Chakwera applauded the organisation at Kamuzu Palace in Lilongwe when he received 392 infrastructure projects done by World Vision in the 2023/2024 Financial Year.
He said the projects show real effort to reach out to local people and has since urged various players to desist from politicising development projects meant for people at grassroots level.
World Vision Board Chairperson, Alfred Kaponda, said their aim is to improve and transform people’s lives, especially of children.
Kaponda since urged communities to own the development projects and take responsibility.
According to World Vision, 155,000 people are benefitting directly from the development initiatives as it has constructed over 11,000 infrastructure projects in the country since its inaugural operations in 1982.
