Mama Amina Foundation, a Non-Governmental Organisation, has distributed 48 wheelchairs worth K12 million to people with disabilities in Likoma District, donated by Knowledge is Light, a United Kingdom-based Foundation.
Director of Mama Amina Foundation, Hassan Malick, said 39-wheel chairs have been distributed in Likoma and nine at Chizumulu Island respectively.
District Medical Officer for St Peter’s Hospital, Mathias Londo, said the wheelchairs will come in handy for patients.
A beneficiary, Antony Mchiela from Chinyanya in Likoma, said the wheelchair will reduce mobility challenges he was facing.
