Chakwera heads to Southern Region for official duties

President Dr Lazarus Chakwera has left Lilongwe for the Southern Region to fulfill a number of official engagements.

One of the key events on his agenda is a ceremony at the University of Malawi, where President Chakwera, who also serves as the university’s Chancellor, will witness the awarding of an Honorary Doctorate Degree in International Relations and Diplomacy to Mozambican President Filipe Nyusi. The ceremony will be held in the Great Hall in Zomba.

President Chakwera is also scheduled to hold bilateral talks with President Nyusi and sign agreements on air transport and tourism, building on discussions they had during a recent meeting in Maputo.

The Mozambican President is also expected to open the National Agriculture Fair in Blantyre on Thursday, 29th August.

Dr Chakwera was seen off at Kamuzu International Airport by some Cabinet ministers, government officials, and Malawi Congress Party representatives.
