President Dr Lazarus Chakwera has commended the CCAP Synod of Livingstonia for complementing the government’s development efforts in various sectors of the economy.
The President made the remarks when he and the First Lady, Madam Monica Chakwera, worshipped at Mchengautuwa CCAP Church in Mzuzu.
Speaking after the church service, the Malawi leader lauded the role the CCAP Livingstonia Synod plays in the development of the country.
The President recalled that during the cholera outbreak last year in some parts of the northern region, the church played a major role in fighting and ending the outbreak.
Dr Chakwera also called for mindset change among all Malawians to realise the Malawi 2063 aspirations.
He said the country can transform if all Malawians unite and work together towards the development of the country.
In his speech, Deputy General Secretary for the synod, Reverend Isaiah Mhone, said the church remains a true government partner in development.
In his sermon, Reverend Reuben Msowoya, Moderator for the CCAP Synod of Livingstonia, said Malawi is a blessed nation with abundant natural resources, but many people in the country lack a hardworking spirit, a situation that is negatively affecting the country’s socioeconomic growth.
He further said it is now time for Malawians to raise the bar in whatever they are doing to significantly contribute to the nation’s building.
Mchengautuwa CCAP Church was established in 2002 with 600 members; currently, the church has over 1,700 members.
Meanwhile, Dr Chakwera has donated K5 million towards various development projects taking place at the church.
