Catholic Church hailed as a partner in vocational education

The government has commended the Catholic Church for its role in promoting technical skills development in Malawi.

Minister of Labour, Engineer Vitumbiko Mumba, made the remarks during a visit to Miracle Technical College in Karonga, under the Karonga Diocese.

Mumba reiterated the government’s commitment to transforming Malawi from a predominantly importing nation to one that prioritises production and export.

“The Chakwera administration is dedicated to advancing the ATM Strategy, which is central to driving the country’s development,” said Mumba.

Level Three Electrical and Electronics students, Joshua Mziya and Modester Mandalasi,

highlighted the transformative impact of the skills they are acquiring, which they believe will enable them to become successful entrepreneurs.

The Principal of Miracle Technical College, Wanangwa Sichone, expressed gratitude for the government’s continued support of the institution’s programmes.

“We appreciate the government’s backing in all our initiatives,” said Sichone.

The college provides training in carpentry and joinery, tailoring, electrical and electronics studies, as well as food production.
