BT Joggers donate to women

Blantyre Jogging Club (BJC) celebrated this year’s Mothers’ Day by donating assorted items to underprivileged women in Ndirande Township.

Chairperson of the group, Emily Duwa, highlighted the importance of giving back, particularly to women, in honouring their role in society.

“We mobilized funds through individual contributions on our WhatsApp group, and within a few days, we raised almost K500,000 to buy these assorted items,” Duwa said, emphasizing that the club was committed to making a positive impact in the lives of needy people.

The donation included maize flour, cooking oil, sugar, laundry soap and special Mothers’ Day cloth among others.

One of the recipients, Maria Jona, said the donation was a much-needed boost, especially during tough times when food insecurity is a pressing issue for many households.

Before the donation, the joggers embarked on a 14-Kilometre fun run, symbolizing their dedication to both physical fitness and community support.

Founded in 2022, the group of fitness enthusiasts is dedicated to promoting health and wellness through regular jogging, physical activities and community outreach.
