BNS renovation starts

Ministry of Sports, in collaboration with the Football Association of Malawi (FAM), has embarked on a clean-up and renovation exercise at the Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe to restore and give the facility a new look.

MBC’s visit to the facility, which the Confederation of African Football (CAF) temporarily sidelined from hosting its sanctioned games, found people busy doing the works, with stadium officials leading and inspecting the renovations.

Spokesperson for the Ministry of Sports, MacMillan Mwale, was optimistic that the facility will now be declared fir to host the games.

“Malawians should not worry with CAF’s preliminary stand as it was based on the previous outdated report. We will furnish CAF with the updated report after all the renovation works are done, including installing of K150 million modern team seats,” said Mwale.

Once the renovations are done and approved, BNS is expected to host FCB Nyasa Big Bullets CAF champions league games which starts between 16 to 18 August and Flames Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers matches starting with Burundi on 2 September this year.
