Silver Strikers’ Assistant Coach, Mapopa Msukwa, says his side is determined not to drop points as the TNM Super League battle continues.
The defending champions are third on the log table with 39 points, 10 behind leaders FCB Nyasa Big Bullets after they defeated Creck Sporting Club 2-1 at Silver Stadium in Lilongwe.
Silver fielded most of their reliable players despite having a continental showdown on Saturday against YANGA FC of Tanzania in the second-leg of the CAF Champions League Preliminary Stage, which they won the first 1-0.
“The situation in the Super League is that we do not want to lose points. We know how to manage them and we know what we are doing,” he said.
In the game, Silver Strikers took the lead after 22 minutes through a penalty kick when Andrew Joseph was brought down by Creck’s Hardy Ng’andu. Emmanuel Allan was the one who scored from the spot.
Creck retaliated in the 42nd minute when Patrick Mapunzi levelled after an assist from Arnold Kiyama.
The visitors started to really threaten the home side, but lacked clinical finishing.
For instance, in the 70th minute, Mapunzi nearly put his side in front but his close range shot was saved by Silver’s goalie, George Chikooka.
Nonetheless, eight minutes later, Uchizi Vunga restored his side’s lead through an assist by Andrew Joseph.
At the end of the match, Vunga was named the man of the match.

Coach for Creck Sporting Club, Elijah Kananji, said despite the defeat, his team is improving compared to what he found when he took over on 31 May 2025.
“In this game, we had many chances but the defenders were childish,” he said.
As it stands, Creck are 10th on the log table with 25 points from 21 games played. Kananji said there is a probability of qualifying to next season’s Top 8 Cup.
“Anything is possible, what we need to do is organise our camp and win important games. We only have 9 games left and if we use them well, anything is possible,” Kananji said.
TNM Super League action returns on Wednesday as Ekhaya takes on Kamuzu Barracks in Blantyre.
In Lilongwe at Nankhaka Stadium, Blue Eagles date second-placed Mighty Wanderers, who have 42 points from 18 games. A few Kilometres away at CIVO Stadium, Civil Service United will face Mighty Tigers.
