Over 2,300 runners are gearing up for this year’s Be More Race, hosted by Standard Bank PLC in Lilongwe on Saturday, 20 July 2024.

The event, to be held under the theme:  “Why We Run?” has attracted a record 2,334 participants, the highest since the race’s inception in 2017 to promote wellness and networking among communities, families, and professionals.

Ng’ombe said, “Marathon enthusiasts can look forward to an exciting race and a colorful prize presentation. Apart from the 21-km track event, there will be a music performance by Saint Realest, aerobics, group games, and a children’s play area with healthy foods and drinks.”

Ng’ombe thanked the race’s partners and sponsors, including Athletics Malawi , Coca-Cola Beverages Africa, Mwaiwathu Private Hospital, and Beyond Bounds Physiotherapy Clinic, for their support.

“Standard Bank is committed to community engagement and promoting healthy lifestyles. We have spared no effort to ensure this event will be a resounding success,” added Ng’ombe.

He said local athletes, including Chikondi Mwanyali, Mphatso Nadolo, Tereza Master, Doris Fisher, and Nalice Chirwa, will compete in the race.

Chamwala assured that Athletics Malawi  will provide technical expertise to maintain international competition standards.
