Beneficiaries of the Affordable Inputs Programme (AIP) on Chizumulu Island have expressed gratitude to the government for providing subsidized fertilizer, saying it will alleviate hunger and improve their household food security.
Speaking in an interview on Wednesday, Loveness Chavula from Msalowa Village highlighted the program’s impact, noting that it will enable many households to achieve higher maize yields.
Another beneficiary, Brave Malawila, praised the affordability of the fertilizer, emphasizing how easy it is to access.
“We access the fertilizer without encountering any problems, the government pays a lot of money on our behalf and we are only paying K30,000 for NPK and Urea,” Malawila said. “Otherwise it is not easy for many to buy from the shops.”
