Beach soccer teams in the country that emerged champions in their respective regions will battle it out in Mangochi to find the national champion for the HTD Beach Soccer Trophy from today until tomorrow.
Chairperson for Malawi Beach Soccer Association, Gift Chimbalanga, says all is set for the showdown.
“…teams from all the five centres will compete. This is a great opportunity for beach soccer lovers in Mangochi and surrounding districts to come and watch the game, which will also be an opportunity for interactions among Malawians and tourism,” Chimbalanga said.
Teams that will be competing are NOIL and Deep Bay from Karonga, Beach Eagles from Chintheche, Vintenga from Nkhotakota, Tourism from Central Region, and Sunbird Nkopola from Mangochi.
Two centres are representing Karonga since the finals were supposed to take place in the district but due to rising water levels from Lake Malawi, the venue has been changed to Mangochi.
The champions will walk away K3 million richer while the runners-up will receive K1 million and third place team will pocket K500,000.
