Teacher arrested for allegedly raping student

A 43-year-old teacher, MacCloud Chimpini, has been arrested by the police in Mchinji District for allegedly raping a 16-year-old student.

According to Mchinji Police Station spokesperson, Limbani Mpinganjira, Chimpini is a teacher at Chambidzi Community Day Secondary School.

On January 18, 2024, he is said to have convinced the girl, who was accompanied by a friend, to go to a nearby resthouse at Nthema Market in Kapiri, where he allegedly committed the crime.

Afterwards, the victim reported the incident to her uncle, who is her guardian.

The guardian reported the issue to Kapiri Police Unit, resulting in the arrest of the suspect.

The suspect has already appeared before the court, nd is facing two charges: Having sexual intercourse with a child and indecent assault.

Chimpini is from Ulanga Village, Traditional Authority Ganya in Ntcheu District.
