Suspected mpox cases test negative

Ministry of Health says the two suspected cases which were admitted in isolation ward at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital have tested negative for mpox.

Secretary for Health Dr Samson Mndolo said the test was done by Malawi Liverpool Welcome Trust Laboratory in partnership with the Public Health Institute of Malawi.

Dr Mndolo further said one case which was reported in Zomba has also been confirmed negative.

He has however called on the general public to continue observing preventive measures including avoiding physical contact with someone who has the disease, regular hand wash with soap and report early to hospital if one experiences symptoms among other measures as Malawi is at great risk.
